Inclusion Support Offer for Day Camps
AlterGo aims to find better ways to support day camps and families with the inclusion of campers with special needs on the Island of Montreal.

Service Offer for the 2025 Camp Season
Together for Inclusion
This spring we are offering dynamic lunchtime presentations for directors and day camp managers, aiming to equipe leaders to facilitate and influence inclusion at camp.
This is a great opportunity to strengthen inclusion in your camps while respecting your busy schedule!
Come deepen your knowledge on various topics related to the inclusion of children with specific support needs in day camps and leave with practical tools and strategies to implement at camp.
Themes will include:
- Navigating reasonable accommodations at camp
- Mobilizing resources to support inclusion
- Implementation Guide for the Maximizing Camper Participation (MPC) tool, presented by the University of Quebec in Trois-Rivières
- Keys to collaboration between camps and practitioners

Summer Exchange Sessions
This is AlterGo’s 3rd season offering summer exchange sessions, but for summer 2025 this will be the 1st time they are also offered in English!
This space is designed to bring day camp managers and practitioners together to discuss and raise concerns related to inclusion, specific support needs, and youth behaviors during the camp season.
All in the goal of fostering a community of practice amongst day camp managers!
These sessions are offered to managers of inclusive day camps who support children with specific support needs and children demonstrating unexpected behaviors. Managers of specialized day camps as well as camps outside of Montreal are also welcome to participate in exchange sessions.
Themes will include:
- Building relationships
- Mobilizing support
- Companion and staff wellness
- Documentation and communication

Advising services
Through our advising services, AlterGo aims to support day camp managers and families in understanding situations related to reasonable accommodations and managing specific support needs at day camp.
This service is available year round, and is offered in both French and English.
Feedback visit
Being in day camps with managers allows AlterGo to better understand and address operational needs and concerns for camps; and during the summer is the best time to invite one of our day camp universal accessibility advisors to visit.
Feedback visits provide camp managers with an occasion to give AlterGo feedback related to inclusion and behaviour management at camp, as well as gain some feedback and concrete suggestions from our team.
This service is available in both French and English.

Corben holds a specialized bachelor’s degree in therapeutic recreation and has been working with youth in leisure and camp settings for over 15 years. His area of expertise is the inclusion of children with specific support needs and facilitating accessible participation in leisure activities. Thanks to his dedication to inclusion, accessibility, and the quality of interventions, our initiatives to support inclusion in day camps will take shape in a very practical and concrete way.

Marie-Noël holds a bachelor’s degree in social work. She has had the privilege of working with several teams in the CLSC, medical clinics, and physical rehabilitation centers. It was through working with individuals and families with diverse needs that her commitment to accessibility and inclusion was solidified. She loves learning from others and working in a team. Her enthusiasm for collaboration and her desire to support families and the community will certainly help us mobilize a support community for day camps.
